ECHO-Research Institute undertook a research project concerning changes in the Canadian culture, observed over the period of the recent several dozen years - since the end of the World War II till present. In this relatively short period of time, a dynamic and very individual cultural environment has evolved in Canada, which became well recognized over the world. Undeniably, one of the stimuli to this phenomenon is the contribution of creative individualities of many immigrants, who found their new home in Canada, and by their activity played a role in the cultural development of this country and its world-wide recognition.

With support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland, the research results concerning contribution of Polish immigrants and Canadian of Polish background to Canadian culture were published in book form, both, in English and in Polish. These are the first of publications this kind that would enable scholars and the general public to learn about the phenomenon of their own country.

Canadian Trek of Polish Culture
(ISBN: 978-0992120801) presents the prominent individuals of Polish descent who contributed to shaping Canadian culture. The book is an original combination of fictitious plot with scholarly analysis of creative society. Presented here are achievements of Poles who arrived to Canada long time ago, those who recently immigrated to this country and as well as Canadian artists, writers and musicians who identify their family roots in Poland. This work does not glorify neither condemns those who by fate found themselves in exile, but shows how they coped with alien reality surrounded by unknown cultures and traditions different than that they knew from Poland. Their struggle and success is shown from perspective of daily life and personal dilemmas.
